My personal website explains the process for renting one of my 50 VENDOR spaces.
The town of Summerville has allowed me to rent vendor spaces since 2006.
I have hosted various businesses. I have had vendors representing, Charleston Sweet grass, Chiropractors, Home made peanut butter and olive oil, jewelry, kids clothing, candles, realtors, political candidates, artist, home decor, boutiques, home made pens and pencils, wreaths, metal yard work, jewelry, art, golf carts, pet supplies, stained glass, cosmetics, pallet furniture, cbd oils, spas, toys, book authors, dog trainers and much much more!
Summerville, S.C. is known for it's annual outdoor Flowertown Festival. Each year, the Town estimates 250,000 people attend the 3 day arts and crafts event! They also list the festival as one of the top ten in our region!
The date of the annual festival traditionally coincides each year with Charleston's world renowned Cooper River/Ravenel Bridge Run where thousands participate!
In addition to the bridge run and Flowertown festival, many other events like weddindgs, graduations and smaller festivals are taking place.
With this being said, the communities surrounding Charleston and the Summerville area are at their highest level of visitors and hotels get booked to capacity.
If you need a hotel, reserve it EARLY! If you have a trailer with your merchandise and display, you will also need to make arrangements for its storage. I do not offer parking or storage. My home is conviently located 1 block from 2 elementary schools and the high school football stadium. Therefore, there always seems to be an open space to park and walk to my property.
The festival is known for the hundreds of Artist, craftsmen, non-profits and various businesses that set up to promote their business within the areas designated by the town! The YMCA is the official host but the Town of Summerville oversees the business licenses and guidelines for the event.
Throughout the years, many of my vendors begin networking and participate in other events together!
You are allowed to share a booth with my approval and once I receive a contract form all participating.
We love offering this opportunity to various businesses to experience this EXCELLENT ADVERTISING and selling event.
My property is located in the middle of the festival facing Highway 17-A (also known as 611 South Main Street and the corner of East South Sixth Street) and right beside the Children's Jubilee offering rides and games!
Many school and non-profit organizations are located diagonally across from my property. The YMCA Food vendors are located across the street facing my property. Other YMCA vendors are scattered throughout Azalea park and on both sides of South Main Street for approximately five blocks.
Summerville Business License: The Town of Summerville requires me and my vendors to obtain a business license each year. AFTER the Town issues my license, each of my vendors have to apply for the 3 day event license. However, if you already have an active Summerville business license then you won't need the 3 day event permit. The town requires me to turn in a copy of current Summerville business license with my "LIST OF VENDORS" every year! YOU MUST obtain the three day event license from the town or the officials will not allow you to set up on my property! (The 3 day license cost approx. $10 to $20) You can go on the Town Business License Department located at 200 South Main Street or call 843-871-6000.
If you don't have a current town business license you must follow the following procedure.
Once you have paid me in full and I have given you a signed contract from me, I will add your name to the vendor list I submit to the town. They will need to see our signed contract in order to issue you a license. I will personally pick up the completed license from the town on Wednesday before the event. If you wish to complete this process via online or through mail, you must obtain a signed contract from me 1st and then make sure I have your name on my vendor list. The Town of Summerville will take credit cards online or via telephone if you email them your application no later than the Wednesday before event.
***The representatives from the town will verify all licenses 1st thing on Friday morning around 8:30am, the first day of festival. They will not allow you to set up until you show them your license. Neither will I
The license must be posted at all times.
LIABILITY Insurance: Every Vendor MUST provide me and my insurance proof of liability insurance documentation covering all aspects of your business. If this is not confirmed in a written policy, I will not allow you to participate! You will not hold me, my family or our insurance liable for anything! If someone gets hurt by any activity concerning your booth, your insurance will cover any claim. (You may want to contact ACT, Ins. online. Many of my vendors use them because they have only charged $39.00 in years past) Telephone: 844-520-6991. Email: INFO@ACTINSURANCE.COM
South Carolina Retail License: You must have this to sell anything! You gotta pay Uncle Sam! The state representatives will come around to verify. (I believe a retail license cost $50.00 for South Carolina.) Contact SC.gov
