The annual Flowertown Festival in Summerville, SC takes place amongst the beautiful historic district including South Main Street and Azalea Park!
Each year, Summerville Town officials estimate 250,000 people attend the three day event!
The primary host of festival is the Summerville YMCA. Every year they receive hundreds of applications for their limited number of vendor spaces and always end up turning people away.
Luckily, The Town of Summerville officials allow private homeowners that live within the perimeter of the festival the opportunity to apply for a license that allows them to rent their property to various businesses.
The dates for the festival coincide each year with Charleston's world renowned Cooper River/Ravenel Bridge Run where thousands of people from around the world participate!
The three day weekend traditionally takes place during the last weekend of March or the first weekend in April.
In addition to the bridge run and the Flowertown Festival, many other events like weddings, graduations and smaller festivals are also taking place. Many hotels in Summerville, Charleston, Mount Pleasant and the surrounding communities are completely booked months or sometimes a year in advance!
The good news is that the Summerville hotels that are located just off I-26 known as exits 199-A and 199-B have increased significantly over the years. They are located 2 miles from the location of the Flowertown Festival.
The festival is known for the hundreds of artist, craftsmen, non-profits and various businesses. There is also music, food and a kids carnival!
It is very common for various business owners to establish friendships which leads to networking and participating in other events together!
